Brow drawn with worry, Marcille stands outside of Yuji's door with her loose bun and wrinkled pajamas and quickly-buckled sandals. She's surprised for a moment, but this is like him, isn't it? Saving face for the sake of people around him?
She offers a half-hearted smile in return, speaking softly. ]
Hi, Yuji.
[ She walks in, and once the door is closed, she takes his face in both hands and lets her smile fall. She turns his head minutely. ]
[ The hands on his face shouldn't surprise him as much as they do, and he tilts his gaze up to look at her, expression softening around the edge. It's still hard to admit his grief to anyone, to share it with people, but... ]
It was pretty bad.
[ He motions to the bed - the only one being used, the one he's sharing with Choso. ]
[ It hits like an arrow striking true. Marcille is quiet, breath stopped in her throat, and searches Yuji's face. She knew Nanami had been escorted home by LILITH, and she knew that Yuji missed him deeply, but now she understands why. Back home, at least for Yuji, there is no Nanami anymore.
Why does this keep happening to him? She wants to scream it, but there's no one here who can answer that, just like there's no use in asking that question now. What matters is Yuji and his feelings.
She smooths her hand across his back and sets her other hand over his arm. ]
[ Yuji's fingers grip around the fabric of his trousers, and he breathes out sharply. ]
It's not even as if I knew him for that long, or... Or as if he was family, or anything, but it felt...
[ It felt like that. That close. Nanami was special to him, in a way that Yuji can't quite put into words. A mentor, but more. A figure he could turn to, trust, believe in, give his all to... Ripped away because he wasn't strong enough. ]
[ Yeah, okay. Marcille folds her arms around his shoulders and pulls him into a warm, enveloping hug. She's smaller than him, but she knows how to be comforting. She passes a hand back and forth against his back. ]
It doesn't matter how long you've known someone or if they're related by blood. Our lives can still change in an instant. Some people can change us in a moment more than other people have in years, you know? You already care about people so much. It must have been so hard.

I'll be there in a minute!
[ True to her word, a minute later, there's a soft and rhythmic knocking at Yuji's door. ]
